Hyundai Veloster..

I recently had the opportunity to participate in the media launch of the new Hyundai Veloster.  Hyundai set up a nice drive for the media starting at the Opus Hotel, located in Yaletown Vancouver.  They then drove through Squamish and west Vancouver then back downtown again.  This picture is at Britannia Mine, Britannia Beach.  We thought the Veloster would look good parked in front of the open-pit truck!

Whidbey Island with Sam Abell

Last Summer I was lucky enough to work with National Geographic Photographer Sam Abell on a book about Whidbey Island.  The book is a collection of photographic essays by 10 different photographers.  I chose the coastline of Penn Cove, near Coupeville. Below is the text forwarding the images.

At Water’s Edge

When I visit Whidbey I am always drawn to the edges of the island where the ocean meets the land.  In the form of shifting tides and changing skies, nature is constantly altering the landscape. The intertidal zone reveals both growth and decay. Artistically I am intrigued by patterns in natural elements of flora and fauna and also in manmade structures.  When the natural world intersects with the structures we create, the structures usually dominate; however, over time, it is always Nature that prevails.

The impermanence of these manufactured landscapes make them rather transitory to us; each time we visit them they are changed, weathered, or in a further state of decay.

Though I have chose to focus primarily near Penn Cove, these beautiful scenes can be discovered frequently in the geography of Whidbey Island.
